Milky Way Alarm Clock Adds Some Art to Your Nightstand

The smooth and sleek design of the Milky Way by Henrik Amberla allow this device to serve two functions, as an alarm clock and as an art object for your nightstand. With an innovative design and interesting interface, this is truly a product we would not mind having in our home. We at Unplggd are suckers for unique functional design, which means we just could not pass up the opportunity to blog about this clock.

The creator of the Milky Way chose the shape in order to "reflect on the duality and unity of the sleep/wake cycle." To engage the snooze function you simply turn the device. Setting the clock and the alarm is also done through another turning motion.

Amberla, a Swedish Industrial and Strategic Design student created this device as a 'formgiving" exercise and it is much to our chagrin, not currently in production.

How important is design in your alarm clock purchasing decisions? Would you purchase the Milky Way should it become available?
