Roger Federer: ‘No Clue’ What to Name Son

at 10:11 PM
Now happily ensconced in wedded bliss, tennis ace Roger Federer and his new bride Mirka can attend to the business at hand — choosing a name for their baby-on-the-way — which is a boy, Roger reveals! Speaking at a press conference in Monte Carlo, Roger admitted that it’s a daunting task. “You know, we’ll see,” he mused. “There’s quite a few books around that are that thick, so we’ll see where it takes us.”

“But, no, we haven’t decided anything yet. I have no clue right now myself. Thank God we have time left to decide.”

Speaking of their wedding day, while it was quickly assembled it wasn’t exactly unplanned, either. “We’ve been talking about it for many years now,” the 27-year-old former World No. 1 reveals. “Basically 95% of the people we invited could come, so they changed their schedules around for us.”

“Everything really worked out really well for us, otherwise we would have waited and done it maybe one month down the road, or maybe one year down the road. But everything worked out for this last weekend.”

Roger and Mirka’s son — the first child for both — is due this summer.

real madrid: the pressure is on barcelona

at 10:05 PM
Rafael van der Vaart believes that the pressure is now on Barcelona at the top of La Primera after Real Madrid closed the gap to four points at the weekend.

The Catalans slipped up against Valencia on Saturday evening before Madrid completed a superb comeback against Sevilla on Sunday to chop two points off their lead.

Now, the decisive game of the season appears to be next weekend, when Madrid welcome Barcelona to the Bernabeu.

Speaking to his official website, Van Der Vaart recognised that whilst Barcelona looked clear favourites to win the title a while ago, the pressure is now on them.

"It was a perfect result for us ahead of next weekend's game against Barcelona. We are only four points behind, and while Barcelona five months ago almost looked destined to win the title, things are really heating up now," he explained.

"The pressure is on Barcelona now, but we must continue to work hard if we want to win the title, and still have to get three points on Saturday."

The game between Madrid and Barcelona takes place this Saturday evening at 20:00 CET in the Bernabeu.

tennis: Safina officially takes over No. 1 women's ranking

at 9:45 PM

Apr 20, 2009

LONDON (AP) — Dinara Safina officially took over the top ranking on the WTA Tour on Monday, making her and older sibling Marat Safin the only brother-sister duo to have been No. 1 in professional tennis.

Safina, who has yet to win a Grand Slam title but twice reached a major final, is the 19th woman to top the rankings since they were introduced in 1975. She is also only the second Russian woman after Maria Sharapova to reach No. 1.

Safina replaced Serena Williams at the top, even though the American beat her in the Australian Open final this year. Last year, Safina lost to Ana Ivanovic in the French Open final.

Marat Safin was ranked No. 1 on the men's tour in 2000, the same year he won the first of two Grand Slam singles titles.

"He has two Grand Slams," Safina said of her brother in a video posted on the WTA's Web site. "He's still much better than me, so I have to catch him."

Safina won four titles last year.

It's refreshing how she chose to ditch the skimpy tennis dresses. It's ridicolous how women are always less covered than men in any sport. Especially volleyball! >.<

Federerlost 4-6 5-7 against his Swiss friend, Wawrinka in Monte Carlo. *yawn*

It was a bittersweet victory for the friend of Fed, however:

I am a bit embarrassed to celebrate it. I believe [Federer] hadn't found his rhythm on clay and he made many errors.

Seems like Roger is still thinking of the moment Mirka said "I do."  T.T WAKE UP, MISTER.
