Rafael van der Vaart believes that the pressure is now on Barcelona at the top of La Primera after Real Madrid closed the gap to four points at the weekend.
The Catalans slipped up against Valencia on Saturday evening before Madrid completed a superb comeback against Sevilla on Sunday to chop two points off their lead.
Now, the decisive game of the season appears to be next weekend, when Madrid welcome Barcelona to the Bernabeu.
Speaking to his official website, Van Der Vaart recognised that whilst Barcelona looked clear favourites to win the title a while ago, the pressure is now on them.
"It was a perfect result for us ahead of next weekend's game against Barcelona. We are only four points behind, and while Barcelona five months ago almost looked destined to win the title, things are really heating up now," he explained.
"The pressure is on Barcelona now, but we must continue to work hard if we want to win the title, and still have to get three points on Saturday."
The game between Madrid and Barcelona takes place this Saturday evening at 20:00 CET in the Bernabeu.
